Least Favorite Patterned Paper and Embossing

I am doing a Stash Busters Instagram hop in the middle of January 2024.  The theme will be using your least favorite paper pad and layering.  Since I will be traveling around then, I am working ahead and wanted to share what I decided to do.

I had some patterned paper that was very busy with roses.  It is really pretty but I just tend not to use it because it is so busy and overpowering.  I just did not want to incorporate with my recent projects.  So, I picked it to come up with a different way to use it.

I found some of my embossing folders that had really nice designs and decided to emboss this paper.  Once embossed, then I decided to use some of my inks on top of this embossing.  I added the ink on the embossing using a brayer to roll on the color on top of the embossing.  You can see the one where I used silver ink, it also got into some of the bigger areas that were not raised, but that is ok.....it still had the look I was trying to achieve.  I think this pattern over the top pulls back the overpowering pattern underneath.

After doing this embossing and ink addition, I decided to use my Altenew layering stamps to create different florals to add to each card.  These stamps are fantastic because they make the florals look so realistic.

My favorite has to be the Altenew Vintage Roses that I added to my gold panel.  I had never used this stamp set, but I have to say, it will be one that I will definitely use again and often!!

I had been doing some hot foiling recently so used some sentiments I had made to finish off the card after layering on top of an A2 card panel.

I am entering this card with the Vintage Roses into the Altenew End of Year Inspiration Challenge.  I picked these roses because of one of the inspiration challenges from earlier in the year (before I even knew about the challenge).  The challenge can be found here - Ultimate Inspiration Challenge: Altenew Year in Review 2023

Overall, I think these turned out great.  And the paper that I had been avoiding made a great backdrop for this look.  What do you think?

Have a wonderful 2024 and happy crafting!
