The next course in my AECP journey was about heat embossing. I LOVE heat embossing, so was really excited for this course. There were several ideas for me to try but the one that caught my eye the most was the Layered Heat Embossing. I will admit that I tried this a little before, but not in the manner shown here.
My card today was made with the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Belladonna Lily Set. I began by stamping the outline image using black ink. Then I began to pick out colors I would like to use for the different upcoming layers. I pulled out several colors in the peach/pink family.
I began with the first layer which is the background of the flowers and stamped with my embossing pad 3 times and then added Dappled Peach. This turned out nice and you can see the dappled effect by the flecks in the embossing power.
The next two layers were done using embossing ink (stamping 2-3 times) and then Dappled Pink and Dappled Coral. I followed the layering guide in order. The last layer for the flowers, I decided to use Rose Gold since it really was only to be a few accents. As you can see, the concepts was good, but I have totally lost my outlines and it looks very abstract. Then I decided I would try something else!!
I went ahead and added a little yellow to the stamen in the flowers and some layered greens to the stems using my alcohol markers. Then I took a deep breath and got my outline stamp back out. I lined it up and stamped using embossing ink 2 times. I then added Penny (copper) embossing powder. I could tell, there were a few spots missed, but I went ahead and heated what was added. Once this was melted, I was very happy with the results!! It still has a little of an abstract feel, but the definition of the flowers is back.
Next I took my stencil and put it on a card panel cut to 3 3/4 x 5". I lightly ink blended over the stencil, not going to any edge. I then stamped my sentiments on the top and added Penny embossing powder and heat set that.
Last, I die cut my flower image, put it on foam and added it to my panel. I added a few jewels around as well. Then I put this on some copper mirror card cut to 4 x 5 1/4" and then put all that on my A2 white card panel.
This technique was quite fun and the smooth textures and colors is really awesome. I hope you have enjoyed and happy crafting.
